Backyard Potential

I am actually very excited about our backyard! We have a beautiful tree and a huge porch area. We hope to have french doors open up to the back so that we have seamless outdoor and indoor living! I know Michael is really looking forward to a potential hot tub in the future čÖé

Inspirational Living

One of the things we love about our home is the living area. The wood floors and open space make it a very inviting area. Here are some photos of it’s current state. We plan to demolish the walls of the kitchen and replace that space with a huge kitchen island (8×4). Michael wanted an open concept floor plan so we wanted to make that happen!

I would love to expose the wood panels at the top, but we’re not sure if the wood there will be presentable or not. We will see!

Another hobby of mine, other than, playing soccer or watching endless hours of the Homeland tv show with Michael is Pinning on Pinterest! Here are some inspiration photos!

I love the paint color in both of these kitchens! One of the kitchens uses the grey in the walls of the dining room, which I like! But, it looks like the other living area transitions to beige, which also looks good. Can’t wait to decide on the paint colors. Michael and I have been toying around with painting them a light grey. I think i’m going to use the colors in this kitchen when we go to granite yard!

Ignore the photo above of the sink, but I love the built ins. Michael is not really for it, but I think if’s affordable, we may consider it! This living space is a great inspiration pin since it has a great open concept look. We love the section and the coffee table. I like the blue ottomans, but the blue chairs are a little excessive.

I love everything about this dining table! I love the wing back chair at the end and even the two other chairs. Michael doesn’t care for the long bench so I could do without it. But, everything else looks good! I think the rug even is great!

More to come soon!

It’s a 1970 beauty

I like to think our house is like a bottle of wine, it will just get better with time. Our home isn’t the newest kid on the block, but we will make it the coolest.

There are definitely some giveaways to the age of our little gem. One of the bedrooms is full of wood paneled walls, which must have been a popular thing back in the 70s. We can’t wait to strip these down and repaint all the bedrooms. ┬áAnother giveaway is the bedroom and bathroom combination – our home is a 4 bed/2.5 bath. Sounds great right?! The only drawback is the 0.5 bathroom is probably one of the smallest powder rooms I have seen. It’s only big enough for a toilet and a sink! Michael and I immediately started brainstorming how to optimize our space to really make our home a 4 bed/3 bath. I think Michael missed his calling to be an Architect, we had sheets of paper drawn out with different layouts and I think we found the ideal plan. Our Architect is finalizing the drawings. We will have to show you more in another post! Shown below are photos of all the bedrooms and the two full baths.

This is the study and it’s at the front of the house. Our vision is to demolish the closet and give the square footage to the bathroom we are going to build. More to come on this later!

This is the guest bathroom; aren’t the tiles lovely? Don’t fall in love too much. We are demolishing this whole thing and building 2 bathrooms in it’s place! Here is a photo of the wood paneled room and the other guest room. I can’t wait to add some color in here.

This is our master bedroom and bathroom. Thanks to our designer and Michael’s mom, we are going to transform this bathroom and bring it to the 2000 era.

You need to use your imagination here…

I saw a lot of potential with the home.. the “bones” of the home were great (bedrooms were a good size, wood flooring, etc.), but when I saw the kitchen, I was really terrified. ┬áMichael reassured me that it could really turn into something and of course, I trust him! And after watching hours of HGTV and hundreds of pages of magazines later, I can tell you I am SO EXCITED about the potential here. Here are some of our before photos. All you need to do is.. just use your imagination čÖé

Curb Appeal – Blue or Blah?

When Michael and I were first looking at homes, Michael said adamantly that curb appeal was a must! I had never even heard that term before since all I really cared about was all the interior decorating. From the photos online, I couldn’t really see the curb appeal for our gem. But, once we drove up, our eyes got wide and we were stunned by how beautiful the outside of the home was. There was a beautiful tree in front and the blue trim that seemed to radiate in the Redfin photos actually didn’t look so bad at all. In reality, we are still undecided on the trim, but one thing we are sure of is how beautiful we think the outside is! Some of the details you can’t really get a sense without walking up is 1) how beautiful the front door is – it looks like an old french door with lots of character, 2) the address numbers seem just perfect with the character of the home, and 3) the small windows are a perfect size for lighting and privacy. ┬áSo.. what do you think of the trim? Blue or Blah?

Our gem of a home is finally under contract! Here is our Redfin posting. I know Michael and I would always become disappointed when one of the homes we were tracking finally went under contract, so we couldn’t wait to see the little red ribbon with “Pending” once our offer was finally accepted! – Michael & Mimi
